Quiet Circle Design System

Sections

Every block, in context.

This page renders every section the system exposes, in the order they would appear on a real site. The page is set to data-faith="on" and data-stories="include" so every flex variant is visible. The demo org is Hawthorn House, a fictional placeholder.

One sentence, plain. Not a statistic, not a quote. The visitor's first read should be "they see me," not "they have a campaign."

Hawthorn House

A community of parents who've lost a pregnancy or baby, here to support yours.

There's no right way to grieve, and no timeline. Whether you lost a pregnancy last week, lost a baby twenty years ago, or are reading this for a friend, you are welcome here.

Short list of programs, plainly named. No marketing language. Cards or a plain list, both shown below. Pick one based on how many programs the org has (cards for 3–6, plain list for 7+).

As cards (3–6 programs)

Weekly support circles

Small groups of bereaved parents meeting in person and online. Led by peers and a licensed counselor. Drop in or join a six-week cohort.

Comfort boxes

Sent to a family in the first month after loss. Includes a journal, candle, soft blanket, and a hand-written note.

Memorial photography

Free professional photography at the hospital, through partner volunteer photographers. Available 24 hours a day.

Annual remembrance gathering

Held the first Saturday of October. A quiet outdoor service with the option to read a name aloud. Open to anyone.

As a plain list (7+ programs)

Two-column layout. Left: a quiet acknowledgment. Right: the four most-needed pieces of information. The reassurance line is on the destination page, not here.

If you're newly grieving

You don't have to read everything on this page. You don't have to know what you need yet. There is a guide on the next page for the first days, the first weeks, and the first year, written by parents who have been there.

FOUR THINGS THAT MIGHT HELP TODAY

  • What is happening in your body, physically, is normal.
  • You do not have to make any decisions today.
  • If you want to be alone, that is allowed. If you do not, that is also allowed.
  • You can reach a peer who has been here at sarah@example.org.

This is often the most-shared page on the site. Visitors share it with their own families and friends. Treat the teaser as a discovery moment, not a sub-page filler.

SUPPORTING A GRIEVING FRIEND

What helps. What doesn't. What to say when you don't know what to say.

If someone you love has lost a pregnancy or baby and you are reading this trying to figure out what to do, you are already doing the most important thing. We have a guide for you, written by parents in our community: what landed, what didn't, and what they wish more people had known.

Hidden by default. Renders only when the <html> element has data-faith="on". The page you're reading has it on, so the block is visible below. Always plain, no apology, no hedge. Visitors deserve to know what they're walking into.

A NOTE ON OUR FRAMING

We are a Christian organization. Our support is offered in that frame. Our circles open with a moment of stillness, and our staff and many of our volunteers are people of faith.

We welcome people of all faiths and none. Whatever you believe about what happened or what comes after, you are welcome here. Nothing we offer requires a profession of faith.

A faith-framed pull-quote, used sparingly. Scripture quoted gently, not as a marketing line. One per page maximum. Always attributed. If the org doesn't have a chosen verse for this purpose, omit the block.

Hidden by default. Only render if the org has consent-cleared, permission-granted stories on file. Never half-built with placeholder names. The page you're reading has stories included, so the block is visible below.

Maya & Ben

"The first time I came to a circle, I didn't say anything for ninety minutes. Nobody made me. That was the first place since the hospital where I could just sit and not be okay."

Loss of a baby at 22 weeks · written consent on file

Anonymous

"I came in for the comfort box and stayed for the people. Three years later I'm a peer mentor. Sometimes I think the person I was before the loss wouldn't recognize who I am now, and I'm okay with that."

Recurrent loss · anonymized at parent's request

Jordan

"I'm the dad. Everyone kept asking how my wife was. Nobody asked me. Hawthorn House had a circle for fathers, and that was the first time someone asked me."

Stillbirth · written consent on file

Never in the hero. Never a popup. Never a thermometer. Donation framing is always quiet, always near the end, and always specific about what the gift supports.

SUPPORT THE WORK

Comfort boxes are free for the family. They aren't free for us.

A gift of $40 sends one comfort box to a family in the first month after their loss. A gift of $200 supports a six-week cohort. We are a 501(c)(3); your gift is tax-deductible.

Give a comfort box Other ways to give

The single most important line on the site. Used only on the newly-grieving page hero. Never as marketing. Never on the homepage. Never on social.

There's no timeline. We're here when you're ready.
