Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Roofing in Arizona

From inspections and materials to financing and insurance, here are the answers homeowners ask most.

01 How do I know if my roof needs to be repaired or replaced?

If your roof is under 15 years old and the damage is limited to a specific area, repair is often the right choice. If your roof is older, has widespread damage, or the underlayment is failing, a full roof replacement may be more cost-effective in the long run. Our free roof inspection will give you an honest answer.

02 How long does a roof replacement take in Phoenix or Tucson?

Most residential roof replacements are completed in one to three days, depending on the size of your home and the roofing material being installed. Commercial roofing projects may take longer based on the scope of work.

03 What roofing materials work best in Arizona’s heat?

Clay tile, concrete tile, metal roofing, and foam roofing are among the best options for Arizona’s desert climate. These materials are designed to handle extreme UV exposure, temperature swings, and the monsoon season. Our team will help you choose the right material for your property and budget.

04 Do you work with insurance companies on storm damage claims?

Yes. If your roof has been damaged by monsoon storms, wind, or hail, Stonecreek Roofing can help you document the damage and work alongside your insurance company to support your claim.

05 Do you offer roofing financing?

Yes, we offer roofing financing options for qualified customers. Don’t delay a necessary roof repair or replacement because of upfront costs. Ask us about payment plans when you call.

06 Are you licensed to do roofing work in Arizona?

Yes. Stonecreek Roofing is fully licensed, bonded, and insured with ROC #316925. We hold the KB-1 roofing license, the highest credential available in Arizona, and are GAF Master Elite® Certified, placing us in the top 2% of roofing contractors in North America.

07 How do I find reliable roofers near me in Phoenix?

If you’re searching for roofers near me or roofing companies near me in the Phoenix area, look for licensed, insured contractors with strong reviews. Stonecreek Roofing is KB-1 licensed, GAF Master Elite certified, and has 500+ five-star Google reviews. We serve the entire Phoenix metro including Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, and surrounding cities.

08 How much does roof repair in Phoenix typically cost?

Roof repair Phoenix costs vary depending on the extent of damage, materials, and roof type. Minor repairs may start around $300 to $500, while more extensive damage can range higher. Stonecreek Roofing provides free, no-obligation inspections with written estimates so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your teams efforts. Not only were all the workers involved with this roof replacement hard working individuals, they were genuinely smiling and singing / whistling, their energy and passion for their craft was extremely calming. The initial meeting with Kinsey who still is constantly in communication with us, explaining / answering questions that we had and the upfront honesty is what sold me. They showed up at sunrise and by sunset they had just about finished the majority of the work. I’m blown away by the quality of teamwork that I observed. Great price.

I recently engaged Stonecreek Roofing following a leak during a severe storm. They helped substantiate my insurance claim, and served as intermediary between me and the insurance company. It all went very smoothly. Their crew did a proper job removing the old roof and installing the new in 2 days. They assisted in arranging to have their drywall subcontractor do some extra work for me beyond the insured work, and that work was done very competently and at a fair price. I found Stonecreek to be professional, responsive, transparent and amiable.

Nate & Sarah at Stonecreek exceeded my expectations. They worked directly with our insurance company. The workmanship was incredible. They had a 5-man crew and completed the work in 3 days! The roof looks spectacular! I would use them again without hesitation and highly recommend them to do your job! Great price.

Nate and Sarah both assisted me through out my roof replacement process. They were both amazing! Very informative and quick to respond. Nate even came out to place additional tarps during a monsoon. That was going above and beyond and was very appreciated and helped reduce additional damage. Great service! Highly recommend.

Roof Repair

Expert Roof Repair Across Arizona

Phoenix roofs take a beating year-round. Intense UV exposure breaks down materials faster than most climates. Summer heat causes repeated thermal expansion and contraction that stresses seals, fasteners, and flashing. Monsoon season then sends sudden heavy rain onto roofs that have been dry for months.

Stonecreek Roofing finds the actual source of the problem, fixes it correctly, and documents the work. Licensed, bonded, and insured . Includes a workmanship warranty on every repair.

Our repair services cover:

  • Active roof leaks and water intrusion
  • Damaged, missing, or curling shingles
  • Cracked, slipped, or broken tile
  • Failed or improperly installed flashing
  • Roof vent damage and ventilation issues
  • Storm, wind, and hail damage
  • Underlayment failure on tile and shingle roofs

Roof Types We Repair

All Roof Types, One Licensed Crew

We repair shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofs. Each material responds differently to Arizona conditions and requires a specific approach to diagnosis and repair. Our team works on all four on a regular basis across the Phoenix metro.

01

Shingle Roof Repair

Most Common

Cracked, missing, or wind-lifted shingles are the most frequent repair calls we receive across Phoenix. We match existing materials and restore your roof to a proper weather barrier.

  • Replace cracked, missing, or curling shingles
  • Match existing color and material grade
  • Restore full weather barrier protection
02

Tile Roof Repair

Most Often Overlooked

Cracked or slipped tiles, failed mortar, and underlayment issues can hide serious water damage behind a roof that looks fine from the street. We repair individual tiles without disturbing the rest of the system.

  • Replace cracked or slipped tiles precisely
  • Repair failed mortar and ridge caps
  • Inspect and replace damaged underlayment
03

Roof Flashing Repair

Leading Cause of Leaks

Flashing failures around chimneys, vents, and skylights are the number one cause of roof leaks. We replace failed flashing and reseal penetrations correctly to prevent recurring water intrusion.

  • Replace corroded or damaged flashing
  • Reseal around chimneys, vents, and skylights
  • Prevent recurring water intrusion
04

Roof Vent Repair

Critical for Moisture Control

Damaged or improperly functioning vents affect both moisture control and attic temperature, leading to higher energy bills and premature material degradation. We restore proper ventilation across all roof types.

  • Repair or replace damaged roof vents
  • Restore proper attic airflow and temperature
  • Prevent moisture buildup and energy waste

Live render

Roof Threats

What’s Silently Destroying Your Roof

Arizona’s extreme heat, monsoon storms, and unreliable contractors are the biggest threats to your roof, and most of the damage is invisible from the ground.

Extreme UV & Heat Damage

Phoenix summers routinely exceed 115°F. Constant UV exposure causes underlayment to dry out and crack years before its rated lifespan, especially under tile and shingle roofs. Most homeowners don’t know until the first monsoon brings a leak indoors.

Monsoon Storm Damage

Arizona’s summer monsoon season dumps intense rainfall, hail, and 70+ mph wind gusts on roofs that may already be compromised. Storm damage to flashing, ridge caps, and underlayment is frequently invisible from ground level.

Hidden Underlayment Failure

Tile roofs can look perfectly intact from the street while the waterproof membrane beneath the tiles has completely failed. This is the #1 most commonly missed problem in Arizona roof inspections, and the most expensive to ignore.

The Wrong Roofing Contractor

Many Phoenix roofing companies use lower-grade materials, rush jobs, or lack the proper KB-1 license. Homeowners who choose the cheapest quote often pay twice: once for the bad job and again to fix it.

Clay, concrete, and slate tiles each come at different price points. Premium profiles and custom colors add to the cost.

2

Roof Size & Total Square Footage

Larger roofs require more materials and labor. The total square footage is the primary driver of your final cost.

3

Existing Roof Condition

A full tear-off with underlayment replacement adds labor and disposal costs. The condition of your current roof affects the scope of work.

4

Installation Complexity

Steep pitches, multiple valleys, or intricate designs require more time and skill, which can increase the overall cost.

Roof Inspections for Every Situation

We tailor each inspection to your situation. Whether you’re preparing for monsoon season, filing an insurance claim, selling a home, or staying ahead of routine maintenance.

01

Pre-Monsoon Inspection

Most Common

June is the most common time Arizona homeowners schedule inspections. Any existing weakness in flashing, cracked tiles, or failed sealants will be tested by monsoon rain. We identify and address those before the season starts.

  • Identify flashing, tile, and sealant weaknesses before storms hit
  • Recommended scheduling between April and June
  • Prevent small issues from becoming monsoon-season emergencies
02

Post-Storm Inspection

Insurance Ready

Hail, wind, and monsoon storms can cause damage that isn’t visible from the ground. We document storm-related damage with photos and a written report, exactly what your insurance company needs to process a claim.

  • Document hail, wind, and monsoon damage with photos
  • Provide written reports for insurance claims
  • Identify hidden damage not visible from the ground
03

Pre-Sale Inspection

Buyer & Seller

Buyers and their agents often request a roof condition report before closing. We provide a documented inspection that gives both parties a clear picture of the roof’s current state and any repairs that may be needed.

  • Documented roof condition report for real estate transactions
  • Clear picture of current state and needed repairs
  • Provides confidence for both buyers and sellers
04

Routine Maintenance Inspection

Preventive Care

Regular inspections on a one to two year cycle catch small issues before they become expensive repairs. We document conditions over time, which also builds a record useful for future insurance claims.

  • Recommended on a one to two year cycle
  • Builds a documented history for future insurance claims

We Handle

Emergency Roof Damage That Needs Immediate Attention

Arizona’s monsoon storms, high winds, and sudden hail events can cause serious roof damage with little warning. Here are the most common types of emergency damage we see across the Phoenix metro, Tucson, and Northern Arizona.

01

Hail Damage

  • Hailstones can crack or dislodge shingles, dent metal roofing, and compromise overall roof integrity even when the damage appears minor on the surface
  • Small hail damage often goes unnoticed until it develops into leaks, mold growth, and structural deterioration over time
  • We conduct thorough inspections to detect both obvious and hidden hail damage and implement high-quality repairs to prevent future complications
02

Roof Leak

  • Water stains on ceilings or puddles on the floor are signs of a breach in your roofing system that needs immediate attention
  • Common causes include damaged or missing shingles, deteriorated flashing, and compromised sealant around chimneys, skylights, and vents
  • Minor leaks may only need a few shingles replaced or a sealant reseal, while extensive damage can require significant structural repair
03

Storm Damage

  • Severe weather including heavy rain, hail, and strong winds is the primary reason we receive emergency roof repair calls
  • If conditions are unsafe to access the roof, we prioritize emergency tarping to mitigate further damage and return for permanent repairs as soon as it’s safe
  • We monitor weather conditions and respond the moment it’s safe to restore your roof’s integrity
04

Wind Damage

  • Strong winds can tear off shingles, lift flashing, and expose underlayment, often concealing the full extent of destruction until a professional inspects
  • What looks like a few missing shingles can indicate underlying issues that worsen over time, including water leaks, rot, and interior damage
  • We perform detailed assessments to identify both visible and concealed wind damage and carry out lasting repairs to protect your home

Phoenix Climate & Your Roof

110°F+ Heat Is Not Just Hard on People, It Is Hard on Roofs

Phoenix is known for extreme heat. The National Weather Service lists Phoenix’s 1991–2020 average at 21 days per year at 110°F or higher. In recent years, Phoenix has seen even longer heat streaks, including a reported 113 days over 100°F in 2024.

We do not only look for visible damage. We first check the hidden areas where heat usually causes problems.

Shingles Dry Out

Constant UV exposure and extreme surface temperatures cause asphalt shingles to become brittle, crack, and lose granules.

Foam Coatings Weaken

Prolonged heat breaks down foam roofing materials, causing blisters, cracks, and reduced waterproofing protection.

Tile Underlayment Ages Faster

Extreme heat accelerates underlayment deterioration beneath tile roofs, creating hidden vulnerability long before visible damage appears.

Metal Panels Expand & Contract

Daily temperature swings cause metal panels to expand and contract, stressing fasteners, seams, and connections over time.

Why Stonecreek Roofing

Your Search for Roofing Companies in Phoenix Ends Here

Phoenix has hundreds of roofing contractors. Some are excellent, some who will take your money and disappear, and most somewhere in the middle. Those mid-tier companies deliver decent work with average materials, but offer no real accountability when issues surface months later. Hiring the wrong contractor goes beyond wasting money. It can damage your home, void your warranties, and leave you starting over with a bigger problem and a lighter wallet.

Before you hire anyone, ask the one question that separates legitimate roofing companies from the risky ones: What is your ROC license classification? If they hesitate, give you a number without a classification, or can't answer at all, walk away. Stonecreek Roofing holds a KB-1 license, the highest roofing classification issued by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Most Phoenix roofing companies don't have it. We do, and we can prove it in seconds.
