A Montgomery Y membership is a relationship, not a transaction. We invest in long-term members — orientation is free, child-watch is included, financial assistance is available without paperwork shame, and we don't lock anyone into a long-term contract. Family-focused

Family memberships include child-watch.

Bring the kids. Child-watch is staffed by trained Y youth-development professionals while you work out, swim, or attend a class. Up to 2 hours per visit, included with every Family membership at no extra charge.

Membership FAQ

If your question isn't here, the front desk at any branch will answer it in two minutes flat.

Is there a long-term contract?
No. Memberships are month-to-month. Cancel anytime by visiting the front desk or sending one email. No early-termination fee, ever.
What if I can't afford the monthly rate?
Apply for financial assistance. The application is one page and processed in 5 business days. We adjust the rate to fit your household income. We have not turned a neighbor away in 125 years and we don't intend to start now.
Can I freeze my membership for vacation or illness?
Yes. Memberships can be frozen for up to 90 days per calendar year for any reason. No fee. Contact the membership desk at any branch.
Is there an initiation fee?
$0 if you sign up online. Walk-in sign-ups at the branch carry a small one-time joining fee that we waive for active military, first responders, and Montgomery-area educators with ID.
Can my membership be used at other YMCAs nationwide?
Yes. Members get free access to most YMCAs in the U.S. through the Nationwide Membership program. Bring your Montgomery YMCA card. Some local restrictions apply.
What about virtual fitness?
The YMCA mobile app gives every member access to live and on-demand fitness classes from instructors across the Y network. Available on phone, tablet, and smart TV.
Are personal trainers extra?
Group fitness classes are unlimited and included. One-on-one personal training is an add-on at member rates — cheaper than commercial gym training, and our trainers are certified through the YMCA's national program.
