Kitchen Hearth

A warm, square, photograph-led remodelling system: amber calls to action, burnt-orange links, warm stone bands and a serif display face over a body leading of 2em. Extracted section by section from a national kitchen-remodelling franchise with 162 territory microsites, so the catalog carries the whole territory family as well as the national pages.

What this system is

The three loudest colours in the CSS paint nothing

A teal trio sits third, fourth and fifth by declaration count with 725, 725 and 599 declarations. All of it is the fill of a decorative inline SVG that ships on 408 of 411 crawled pages inside a group set to display none, and the live probe renders zero elements of any of it on five different page templates. The first read of this site named the kit for that teal. The system that actually paints is warm.

The display face is declared and never loaded

Every heading names Source Serif Pro. There is no font-face rule for it anywhere in the corpus and it is missing from the site's own Google Fonts request, so every heading on the live site falls back to Times. This kit ships Source Serif 4, the current release of the same family, because the declared intent is unambiguous and shipping Times would be transcribing a bug.

Square, soft-shadowed, three-pixel bordered

130 of 143 painted boxes render at zero radius and not one button is a pill. The brand is carried by a 3px hard border, a soft grey shadow at 3px offset, a full-bleed photo band and generous space. There is no clip-path, no mask, no hard-stop gradient anywhere outside vendor widgets.

Body copy set at 2em leading

The single most distinctive typographic decision on the source, and the one that makes long service copy readable at width. It survives into the kit unchanged. Display leading did not survive unchanged: it was re-tuned from 1.06 to 1.12 because the original numbers were calibrated to Times, not to the serif this kit actually loads.

A franchise kit, not a single-location one

The catalog carries a whole territory family that a one-location system does not have: the zip locator that routes a visitor to their microsite, the owner panel with hours and showroom, the areas-served list, the local review rail and the local blog. That is why the picker tags include franchise.

One contrast fix, declared

The source's primary button is white on amber at 2.31 to 1, which is unreadable. This kit puts near-black ink on the same amber at 6.29 to 1, which is what the browser already computes on the source's own rendered buttons. It is the only colour value in the kit that departs from what the site paints, and it is logged in the brand spec.
